When our adventure began, there were just 12 of us. It was 1981.
Back then the outdoors was about intrepid explorers, but we just wanted to open our front door and have fun. And we wanted everyone else out there with us too.
So we made great products that people could afford, clothing to get them outside and enjoying the fresh air without worrying what it would cost. That’s still what counts for us.
And we’re still doing it. Still thinking of new ways to help people, still inspired by the great outdoors and still hanging by the front door when you need us.
And it’s still what counts for the ramblers, amblers, hikers and bikers. campers and gardeners and daily commuters, dog walkers, show jumpers and multi-tasking mums, picnickers, backpackers, kids playing ball and dads at the footie, urban roamers and beachcombers and puddle-loving children and everyone else we’ve helped start their own adventure.

The Heart Of Your Home Since 1947. Over this time, we have evolved from a small Lancashire business manufacturing ready-made curtains to a multi-channel retailer. We offer a wide range of beautifully made soft furnishings, including quality bedding, ready-made curtains, luxury cushions, cosy throws and on-trend home decor accessories.
Today we have over 70 outlets right across the UK, from Clacton to Colne, Bideford to Banbridge and Llandudno to Livingston. Julian Charles operates 41 standalone stores, plus concessions in outlets such as Boundary Mill and in leading garden centres.
In June 2020, Julian Charles was acquired by SKG Capital Partners who invested significantly in its online platform, extending the ranges available as well as the delivery opportunities.

Our employees have made Julian Charles what it is today and family values are exceptionally important to us. When we asked our team what the best thing about working at Julian Charles was, they said the people they work with and that is something we are extremely proud of. Several of our staff have worked for the business for over 30 years and grown alongside the company over the years. From our head office staff that include merchandisers, quality control, finance and customer service to our store staff all over the UK, everyone matters here at Julian Charles.
