CHEGGERS HOSTS VCR SWAP SHOP IN MANCHESTER and hands out over 7,000 of Freeview+ boxes for FREE!

With digital switchover less than two months away, on Saturday residents in Manchester were given the chance to replace and update their recording equipment by taking part in the Freeview VCR Swap Shop hosted by the nations favourite swapper Keith Chegwin. Taking place at the Comet store, Manchester Fort Shopping Park, hopefuls came along for a chance to win one of 50 brand new Humax Freeview+ boxes.

Over 500 locals entered into the prize draw which opened at 10am. At 2pm Cheggers drew the first 25 lucky winners and first to be drawn was father of two, Yogendra Layman from Oldham. Commenting on his win, Layman said: 'I am really lucky to have won, I nearly didnt get here in time due to the traffic!'

VCRs were swapped for a Humax PVR-9150T Freeview+ box which can record over 100 hours of TV as well as allowing viewers to pause and rewind live TV and series record their favourite telly at the touch of a button. After switchover, tens of millions of VCRs will only allow you to watch and record the same channel so a Freeview+ box is the perfect solution. All the VCRs collected during the day will be recycled.

The Freeview Lounge was also at the store, allowing locals to try out the smart features Freeview+ has to offer such as pausing live TV or recording an entire series. Visitors also put questions to the Freeview team and were able to use the coverage checker to see what channels they can get in their home after switchover.

Keith Chegwin comments 'Being in Manchester for the Freeview VCR Swap Shop was great fun and it was brilliant so many people came down. Switching with Freeview is simple. There is no monthly subscription and it really is as simple as just plugging in and playing. I am thrilled that 50 more local residents will now be ready for switchover and with their Freeview+ boxes they can pause, rewind and record the telly they love at the touch of a button!'

Ilse Howling, Managing Director of Freeview said: 'Freeview+ gives you the most popular digital channels with no monthly bills and the ability to pause, record and rewind programmes. With Cheggers at the helm we knew the Freeview VCR Swap Shop would be a fun event for everyone at the Manchester event.'
