STUDENTS GET SOME RETAIL EDUCATION WITH MANCHESTER FORT

Manchester Fort Shopping Park has become a place of learning, when it launched its exciting initiative called The Young Manager Programme for a group of pupils from North Manchesters High School for Girls and Abraham Moss High School.

The pupils all from Year 9, will be attending the one day course over a period of five weeks to experience the retail world and gain new skills in a business environment. The programme uses the professionalism and expertise of staff within Manchester Fort to introduce the pupils to team building, planning, problem solving and the art of presentation. It also provides the opportunity to learn more about the world of work and employers expectations.

The picture shows Philip Byrne, centre manager at Manchester Fort Shopping Park, with all the pupils at the beginning of their first day.

Commenting Philip said - This is a great opportunity for Manchester Fort to work with enthusiastic pupils from surround High Schools and help to develop their knowledge and understanding of the retail industry. It is also hoped that this programme will improve employability skills and increase the pupils aspirations. It may even inspire them to follow a retail career, which is now one of the countries major industries.
