MULTI-SPORT HOLIDAY CLUB

Heres a great opportunity for local children to learn some new sporting skills and have fun this Whitsun holiday with a FREE multi-sports holiday club run by Swinton Lions in partnership with Manchester Fort Shopping Park. The club takes place throughout the holiday from Tuesday 27 Friday 30 May at the times and venues listed below. All ages from 7 up are welcome to come along and join in.? Furthermore, everyone who attends will be invited to The Lions next game against Workington Town on 8 June in Whitefield to get a feel for the game of rugby.

The sports sessions are open to all and will be run by professional coaches with all the appropriate childcare checks. All equipment will be provided, just turn up in trainers in plenty of time to find the coach and get registered.

The clubs take place daily between Tuesday 27- Friday 30 May at the following venues:


Heywood Street Playing Fields , Cheetham (free)- 13.00 - 14.30 (ages 8 -16)

Harper Green High School, Farnworth (free) - 13.00 - 16.00 (ages 10 -14)


Manchester Maccabi Sports Club, Prestwich- 9am 4pm (ages 7 -16)

(please note there a charge of 15 per child, however this is for the entire day and activities including football, rounders, rugby etc throughout the entire day)


Swinton Lions Rugby League Football Club were formed in 1866 and currently play in the Co-operative National League Two. They are coached by Paul Kidd and captained by New Zealand Maori international Martin Moana, who will be delivering some of the sessions.

Commenting on the holiday clubs, Philip Byrne centre manager at Manchester for said Working in partnership with Swinton Lions these free multi-sport holiday clubs have been put together to capture the imagination of young people and to use sport as a tool to increase participation in positive activities, both in and out of the classroom. We hope that they will be a great success and that we can run the clubs again throughout the Summer Holidays.
